Senior Mine Engineer

Our client is currently recruiting for a Senior Mine Engineer to support an expansion project within their Operations located in Saskatchewan.
Scope:
Reporting to the Chief Mine Engineer, the Senior Mine Engineer is responsible for the coordination and performance of the short and long term mine planning processes within the Mine Engineering department. This includes the coordination of all aspects related to the development and stewardship of 1 week to 12 month short-term mine plans, planning for short-term sequencing issues, development of the 20 year and life of mine plans, and mentorship of junior Mine Engineering staff.
Specific Responsibilities:
Coordinating short-term mine planning (design & scheduling):
Ensure short-term (1 week to 12 month) mine plans are produced and stewarded to through a reconciliation process;
Ensure that short-term planning encompasses the requirements of the long-term plan;
Coordinate the creation of the short-term sequence of events, including updating & inclusion of all relevant Operations & Maintenance tasks to the sequence to complement the production requirements;
Report weekly & monthly tonnage & grade achievements;
Reconcile actual production results to budgeted results for formal reconciliation requirements on a monthly, quarterly & annual basis;
Host the weekly Mine Sequencing meeting & provide post-meeting updates & plan to stakeholders (foremen, mill, etc.);
Optimize the weekly Mine Sequencing meeting to take advantage of any opportunities that arise;
Highlight maintenance time opportunities & provide Operations with planning support to allow the opportunities to be utilized efficiently;
Coordinate & manage change in the short-term planning area to continuously improve department performance;
Audit documentation of geological issues (high back cutting, bolts, disturbances, leach zones, etc.) in the drawing files to ensure that file accuracy is maintained & information is available for future use in the mine planning process;
Coordinate creation of room projection documents for Mine Operations pre-cutting;
Coordinate with the Mine Operations Superintendent & Mill Operations personnel on short-term mill requirements;
Ensure all short-term mine plans are communicated to & coordinated with the Mine Manager, Chief Mine Engineer, Mine Operations Superintendent, Mine Maintenance Superintendent & their associated staff;
Highlight & coordinate drawings required for Mine Operations support; Coordinate the inclusion of routine samples into block model updates on a biannual (every 6 months) basis;
Coordinate the creation of room summary reports documenting grade, geological factors, ventilation concerns, bolts required, etc. for future use in the mine planning process in adjacent rooms.
Familiarity with underground ore zone and processes.
Coordinate long-term mine planning activities:
Steward to the long-term plan;
Coordinate the creation of the 20 Year Strategic Plan;
Manage the MOC process for mine planning and ventilation changes and optimization;
Coordinate personnel involvement during the process of plan creation and updating;
Host planning sessions to work through issues requiring group resolution;
Communicate all mine plans to the Chief Mine Engineer, Mine Manager, Mine Superintendents and Mill Manager;
Coordinate quarterly and annual reconciliation activities.
Promote improvements in all areas to meet or exceed set targets:
Ensure alignment and cohesion within the Mine Engineering team;
Participate in the budgeting process and steward to the Mine Engineering budget (capital & operational);
Recognize and implement continuous improvement opportunities;
Coordinate short-term planning improvements;
Coordinate implementation of short-term scheduling software changes (from AutoCAD/Earthworks to Vulcan/iGantt);
Supervision of assorted Mine Engineering personnel:
Manage employee performance with discussions & full documentation
Perform the Chief Mine Engineer job duties as needed.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor degree in Mine Engineering or related degree;
Have 8-10 years of mining engineering supervisory experience, preferably underground;
Able to handle a large and varied workload;
Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, problem solving, and organization skills;
Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision;
Experience working with MS Office, SAP, CAD, and Mine Planning software such as Vulcan / iGantt.

Hours of Work:
Our client values work-life balance and offers a 9-80 schedule where employees work a two week cycle of 9 hour days with the first Friday in the rotation being an 8 hour day and the second Friday being a day off.
